Head of Business Development for Reinsurance appointed

13 October 2016, LONDON – Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Miguel Martinez Álvarez as Head of Business Development for the reinsurance division. Martinez started on 1st October and is based in the Cologne office. He reports to Dieter Winkel, Chief Underwriting Officer - Reinsurance.

Martinez joins LSM from Munich Re, where he spent 18 years in a wide variety of roles across Europe and Latin America. He has extensive experience in the reinsurance market from an underwriting, business development and client management perspective.

Martinez will focus on developing and implementing LSM’s reinsurance strategy; identifying and entering new business areas and enhancing effective cross-selling and operational excellence across LSM’s reinsurance offices.

Dieter Winkel commented: “Miguel will play a key role in LSM’s reinsurance business development strategy. We have a major opportunity to  maximise the value we can bring to our key clients.
