Matt Smith was appointed Senior Underwriter, Aviation at Liberty in January 2024. He is responsible for underwriting new and renewals business across all classes of the Aviation All risks and Aviation War Portfolios.
As the General Aviation and Aviation War including Lessor Practice Lead, Matt is responsible for managing underwriting profitability for these classes.
Matt joined Liberty in 2024 from Chaucer where he was a Deputy Class Underwriter. He has over 13 years of experience in the Aviation insurance market, and has extensive knowledge across the Airline, General Aviation, Aerospace and Products business units.
Matt has achieved his ACII accreditation as a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and awarded the AIA Education Foundation Prize, and the CII Exceptional Achievement award.
Matt sits on the IUA Aviation Technical Committee (ATC). The ATC was established to promote best practices in the Aviation Market.
