Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Saillen as chief underwriting officer (CUO) Europe, effective immediately. Based in Zurich, Saillen will report jointly to Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau, president of LSM’s European region, and Ronald Bolaños, Global CUO, Liberty International Insurance. Saillen succeeds Fraigneau, who became president of the European region earlier this year. Fraigneau retains the legal and regulatory responsibilities associated with Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe.
In his new role, Saillen will be accountable for underwriting performance across Europe, and driving outstanding outcomes for his team and Liberty’s clients and broking partners. With ten years of service at Liberty, Saillen is perfectly placed to drive forward the Invest in Europe 2030 strategy, Liberty’s mission to be a long-term, supportive partner for insureds and partners across the continent.
Fraigneau said: “We are really pleased to announce David as our new CUO for Europe. David has been fundamental in shaping our fine art and specie book in Europe, building it out into the market-leading offering we have today. He is an innovator, a technical expert, and a passionate advocate for positive change. Under his leadership, our brilliant European teams will continue to leverage global reach through a local lens.”
Saillen has been at Liberty for over a decade, heading up fine art and specie in Continental Europe. Prior, he was Managing Director of AXA ART Switzerland Ltd. and Head of global distribution at AXA ART.
