The Romantic Communion
Glass being a finished, transparent, light, fragile, futuristic version of earth and associated with the higher social class, while raw earth is regarded as the unfinished, opaque, heavy, rugged, historic version of earth and associated with the lower social class. With expressions of contrast, this project explored and revealed the aesthetics and value of raw earth, through what I call ‘a romantic communion’ with glass, while I, the maker, functioned as an agent.
