The Procrustean Bed

The Procrustean Bed

This Greek legend survived for thousands of years: Procrustes built a bed not to fit the measurements of people, but to cut and stretch people so they fit the measurements of his bed. Who is this Procrustes and is it truly possible to believe in an idea meant to level up differences? The sculpture is a standard foam mattress, manually carved into a frame that disrupts the outlines of a sleeping man. His plant-like wish to grow is cut short, together with his feet.
