Man Holding Out Hand

Man holding out hand

Utilizing the traditional textile technique of embroidery to depict scenes with human figures in stereotypically masculine coded attire, the artist reflects on how an artworks material qualities and cultural context become part of its expression.

The scenes in Linn’s works are intentionally ambiguous, encouraging viewers to make their own stories of what is happening in them, either independently or in dialogue with others.

The embroideries by Linn Svensson that are featured in this exhibition are all part of a project named A:Dieu – A Story of Departure, which reflected on topics related to liberal market economies, power dynamics and the dialectics between the individual and the societal structures it inhabits.
