9 July 2020, LONDON – Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has promoted Melanie O’Neill to the role of Chief Underwriting Officer for the business’s Commercial pillar.
Previously Head of Professional Lines, Mel takes up her new role with immediate effect. She replaces Alan Telford, who is retiring after 19 years with Liberty.

Mel has over 30 years’ London market experience, beginning her insurance career in 1989 working for broker Nelson, Hurst & Marsh, which became part of Lockton. In 1994 she joined Brit Insurance as Professional Indemnity Underwriter, leaving in 2003 to take up the role of Senior Underwriter for Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe, now part of Liberty Specialty Markets.
