Metal Plant Holder
Part of a series, depicting paintings of submitted objects which has sentimental value to the artist.
Metal Plant Holder depicts a plant holder made by my great grandfather who was a very skilled amateur metal worker.
My grandfather kept the item and first showed it to me for this project. When painting this object I wanted to depict the love my grandfather had for the plant holder and the process of metal work, by sharing it with me and the beauty of the object itself.
It’s an unusual item and so the interpretation of what the painting depicts is left to the work’s title and the viewer to decipher. However, the resonance the object holds is conveyed through the intricate painting style.
