Tell us about 'Docklands Ebb/Flow'

Docklands ebb/flow explores themes of history and human interaction with the Thames in East London. Just as the tide rises and falls so has human activity moved in cycles, as can be seen in the now-silent docks. The tidal silt forms in layers, mirrored by the layers of human buildings. The scale of the piece, along with the uncertain perspective, invites the viewer ‘in’ to the environment. Although abstract, forms, brushstrokes  and colours are evocative of the subject. In response to the topic, paint is built up in layers and washes, and finally embellished with shards of aluminium.
